Deqote (pronounced Dec-co) is the oldest and largest maker of hand crafted Bluestone picture frames in the world. Deqote Bluestone is renowned for it's character, texture, beauty and longevity. Genuine Bluestone has been discovered in only two regions of the world. Pennsylvania, New York and Africa.
Deqote grade Bluestone is quarried by hand near the headwaters of the Delaware River. Each frame, individually chosen, is then prepared for final sizing and cutting.
Outside corners and interior openings are precisely cut with a  super high speed jet of water which offers the cleanest and most precise cuts attainable. The mineral deposits, organic deposits and oxidation create the beautiful colors and textures that make each unique frame a complement to the picture.

No two Deqote frames are exactly alike. Each one is as individual as a human being. Various colors, textures and character are exhibited in each individual frame. Indentations and crevices give each piece its own character. Most of our frames are "multicolored" and unfortunately photographs don't do them justice.
The colors and textures in the natural cleft inspired us to make frames out of Bluestone. The mineral deposits, organic deposits and oxidation make the beautiful colors of blue-grey, purple, lilac, rust, and green. It is left in the natural cleft state with ridges, smooth surfaces and lines, and is not polished or sealed with chemicals.

No need to head to the hardware store for nails or the like. All frames come complete with acid free mounting material and hardware for wall hanging, either on wood or wallboard, or if you prefer, displaying on a table using an easel back. 5 x 7 frames utilize a unique EaselMate stand (seen below). Larger frames, which will be hung on a wall, have Wallbuddies, a unique and extremely sturdy hanging system that insures the frame is flush to the wall at all points of the frame. Deqote frames and framing packages are engineered to last for generations.
The largest frame weighs no more than 10 pounds, and most weigh less than 5 pounds.  The mounting systems supplied with your frame will support many times the weight of the frame.  We will be happy to customize, to the extent we can, any mat or glass preference, or other consideration you might have. We can custom cut the mat to the exact dimension of your artwork. Just tell us the exact size of the viewable image you require.
If you are uncomfortable about mounting the art yourself, don't be. Just send the art to us and we'll mount it for you.
